Name ingridAbout About the Artist: Ingrid Cholot is a Graphic Designer and Artist born in Nice in the south of France into a family line that blended French sophistication with the exotic mixed influences gained through her parents’ exposures to life in Vietnam and in colourful Morocco, Ingrid has always been surrounded by the creative and expressive. Drawing and painting from an early age, she creates creations, paintings & illustrations that are inspired by her past experiences and show the artist in catharsis, revisiting an emotional state and reproducing the experiences in her images. Guided by her intuition and internal song she allows her brushes and her materials to run free in the process, which reflects the pattern of existence and invariably conspire to become the key factors influencing the mood of the compositions. Ingrid is a prolific sketcher and regularly returns to sketches and doodles mixing them with contemporary ideas and patterns from everyday life. Magazines, illustrations, street art and film. A respected graphic designer, this side of her work is deeply reflective of her personality; the colours are bright, the imagery elegant and sophisticated. Her paintings are by contrast expressionist and spontaneous, influenced by Pollock, Tapiès and Annette Messager as she allows her hand and her energy guide her creativity. Her photos are also a big source of inspiration; widely travelled, she captures scenes from life which transmit an astonishing sense of place and emotion. Ingrid Cholot received a Masters with Distinction in Graphic Design in 2003 and has subsequently trained under one of Paris’ premier Art Directors. She has exhibited in Paris and Nice and is currently working on a sequence of murals for a patron in London. |
